Where Exactly is Battle, East Sussex?

Battle, or Battel as it used to be spelt, is situated approximately 50 miles southeast of London, 30 miles east of Brighton, and just a stone's throw from the coast of Hastings and Bexhill. The town is best known for its 12th-century Abbey, which was the site of the Battle of Hastings in 1066.
